Also, experience a sense of authenticity in the vineyards and wineries of the region. Bierzo wines have their own personality, with terroir, which tell us about a unique territory, with unique characteristics that are manifested in the tasting and when we share a glass of wine.
And, of course, without forgetting the most beautiful place in the region, Las Médulas, a natural landscape formed by an ancient Roman gold mining operation, which will leave you speechless.

Program
1st Day
- Arrival in Villafranca del Bierzo.
- Guided tour of the town, you will know the Castle of the Counts of Peña Ramiro, The Palace of Torquemada, its gold deposits of La Leitosa, etc.
- Visit the municipality of Balboa to see its Castle.
- Lunch at “La Palloza de Balboa Restaurant”.
- Return to Villafranca del Bierzo.
- Dinner at “El Casino Restaurant”.
- Accommodation at Hospedería San Nicolás El Real in Villafranca del Bierzo.
2nd Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit to the Sierra de los Ancares Natural Park, valleys and mountains with altitudes above 1500 m.
- Visit to the municipality of Cacabelos.
- Lunch at “The Moncloa de San Lázaro Restaurant”. We recommend that you try the typical products of the area, such as botillo, cured meat from León and peppers from Bierzo.
- Afternoon bathing in the river beach of Cacabelos.
- Visit to Losada Vinos de Finca and tasting of their DO wines.
- Return to Villafranca del Bierzo.
- Dinner at “The Méndez El Guardia” restaurant.
- Accommodation at Hospedería San Nicolás El Real in Villafranca del Bierzo.
3rd Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit to the municipality of Carracedelo.
- Lunch at “The Las Pallozas de Compostela” restaurant. An establishment in whose surroundings are the traditional buildings of the Ancares Leoneses.
- Arrival in the city of Ponferrada, where we will stay, 15 km from the municipality of Carracedelo.
- Free afternoon.
- Dinner at “Vinomio Bar & Botánico”.
- Accommodation at the Hotel Temple de Ponferrada.
4th Day
- Breakfast.
- Guided tour of the city, where you can learn about its cultural heritage, such as: the castle, the basilica of La Encina, etc.
- Lunch at “La Casona Restaurant”. We recommend that you order the botillo del Bierzo, the cured meat from León or the peppers from the Bierzo.
- Completion of the Senda de los Monjes, a beautiful route of little difficulty, of 7 km, ideal for hiking for the whole family, which takes us from Ponferrada to the neighboring town of San Miguel de las Dueñas.
- Dinner at “The Don Jaime” restaurant.
- Accommodation at the Hotel Temple de Ponferrada.
5th Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit to the most famous and beautiful natural area of El Bierzo: Las Médulas.
- Lunch at “Mesón Rural Agoga, in Las Médulas.
- Visit to the municipality of Carucedo, where you will enjoy its river beach from Lake Carucedo.
- Visit to the Estefanía wineries and taste their DO wines made from Mencía grapes and Godello white grapes.
- Dinner at “La Central” restaurant.
- Accommodation at the Hotel Temple de Ponferrada.
6th Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit to the town of Peñalba de Santiago, belonging to Ponferrada, one of the most beautiful towns in Bierzo.
- Visit to the natural area of Valleys Glaciares and Crestones de Aquiana, ravines with steep slopes and characterized by unique geological elements.
- Lunch at “La Casa del Botillo” restaurant, and how could it be otherwise, the botillo del Bierzo is its star dish. Although we also recommend you order the Leon cecina or its fresh veal.
- Transfer to the municipality of Congosto, where we will stay, 34 km from Peñalba de Santiago.
- Free afternoon.
- Dinner at “The Kasa Muy Congosto” restaurant.
- Accommodation at the Rock Suites & Spa in Congosto.
7th Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit of the municipality of Noceda.
- Completion of the Route of the Medicinal Fountains, an environment that houses several river courses that display beautiful groups of waterfalls and fountains.
- Lunch at “Mesón Señorío del Bierzo”.
- Visit the municipality of Igüeña, where you will enjoy its river beach.
- Dinner at “The Aníbal” Restaurant.
- Return to Congosto.
- Accommodation at The Rock Suites & Spa in Congosto.
8th Day
- Breakfast.
- Visit the municipality of Molinaseca, where you can visit the Sanctuary of Las Angustias, the Church of San Nicolás de Bari and its traditional architecture, among other monuments.
- Lunch at “Mesón Puente Romano”.
- Return to the city of origin.
